How this is compiled

A reference work is worth its method. Here is the whole of ours, including the parts that make it slower than it could be.

One permitted source

A number goes in only when it has been read off the platform's own published guide. Not from another listings site, not from a forum, not from an aggregator — those all decay, and copying a decayed number reproduces someone else's error with our name on it.

Every entry is dated

Each cell carries the date it was last read. An undated channel number is a rumour, because renumbering happens quietly and a figure that was right last year may be wrong today.

What is deliberately excluded

  • Schedules and programme listings. That data is licensed. Republishing it without a licence would be exactly the thing this site's neighbours in the industry get wrong, and no amount of usefulness would excuse it.
  • Fixtures. Same reason, and a fixture list ages faster than anything else on a page.
  • Anything for sale. No price, no subscription, no plan, no checkout. This is a reference work and adding commerce to it would quietly change what it is.

Corrections

A number that is wrong should be reported and will be checked against the platform's guide rather than against the report. [TODO: publish a corrections address]
